Students at a South Florida school may be at risk for having their identities stolen after a theft at their school.

The emergency contact cards of 2,000 students were stolen from the office at North Miami Beach Senior High School.

The stolen cards include the students’ Social Security numbers.

The Miami-Dade school district issued a statement saying, "The school district is notifying parents of the theft of more than 2,000 emergency contact cards from North Miami Beach Senior High School. The cards contain students’ personal information, which could be misused if in the wrong hands."

Miami-Dade Schools police had no comment.

Some people at the school said they think the thefts were an inside job by someone who knew where the cards were kept.

This is not the first time this has happened at a Miami-Dade County School. Last month, some cards were stolen from Miami Norland Senior High School.
